I have a master's degree in social work, but is making twelve dollars per hour. I decided to start out entry level, and work my way up. I had a difficult time finding the right place of social work, and I finally did. But is there anything wrong with working your way up, even though you have a degree?

No, nothing wrong with it, but sounds like your getting screwed with pay. Im also a social worker, I work in a school, and get paid 25 bucks an hour with summers off- paid, and I just graduated last year. 12 bucks an hour sounds like a bachelors level position- you may look into if they are paying you based on your degree- they may have you on the wrong level because even entry level- thats too low. I know high schoolers making 10 bucks an hour without any degree at all.
