What kind of job can you expect to find with a master's in Social work

What kind of job can you expect to find with a master's in Social work?
and what kind of salary per month? an estimate? I hate the offices filled with the chubby or skinny secretaries gossiping about stupid things, and wasting their time on facebook. I hate offices were the people expect you to be part of the crowd and gossip about you.. I would DEFINITIVELY HATE that.. so what other jobs can i get? Thank you! I live in Texas.

I think it's called Social Work... You would probably have an office but probably wouldn't be there all that much - that is if you're doing the job RIGHT - since you would be out among the people on Welfare. The only kind of office work where you would be expected to be "part of the gang" would be jobs that don't require a degree of any kind. Check the Web to find out average salaries for Social Workers but from what I seem to have read it is not much at all, even if you move to a big city (where living costs are high), particularly in light of how hard (and unsatisfying) the work IS. But, then, maybe you should have elected to go for a degree that required more effort in School.

Every credible MSW I know of requires you to do several internships, which obviously cannot be done online. The internship requirement often applies even if you have a social work job. http://www.socialwork.txstate.edu/On-Line-Masters-Program.html here is an online degree. ^^^

Well I am not familiar with any schools in Texas, but I know that Florida State University offers an MSW completely online. I have not heard of any other schools that offer this. They are very scarce, so this is probably your best bet. Here is the website with all the information you need: http://ssw.fsu.edu/index.php?clickLink=admissionsMSW

It could help but it really depends on what your plans are.

Hmm, I think that would be a little excessive. Why don't you looking into get a Master with a major in one and a minor in the other. Then again, it really depends on where you live and what kind of job you are looking to get.

I currently hold a B.A. in English, but want to earn a master's in social work. Is this possible

I currently hold a B.A. in English, but want to earn a master's in social work. Is this possible?
I'm aware that to be more competitive for master's programs in social work, one should probably have earned his/her bachelor's in a related field such as sociology, psychology, or social work. However, do you know of anyone who earned a MSW with an unrelated bachelor's degree?

It's certainly possible but you would have to check out the requirements of the specific programs you are interested in applying to. Most may require a certain number of courses in social work or a related field before you can apply. You might end up having to take a few semesters of undergrad courses to get caught up. You don't want to walk into a Master's program where you have no experience in the field, it'll be too difficult to keep up and get good grades.
