You will need a great deal of work experience in your country now, as well as the ability to work in at least one other language. Are there any social work jobs in Jamaica
Are there any social work jobs in Jamaica?
I have my masters in social work and would like to move to Jamaica. I would be willing to work with people on any level, but hopefully counseling or case management for children, families, adults, elderly, disabled or anyone really...Would there be any hope for me to make a good living there?

If you like LOTS of stress, you can certainly try, but you might consider living there a month or 2 b4 making a decision like that. Things are not easy in JA and the "soon come" attitude will drive you nuts despite your good intentions.

Do extensive research before you decide to live in Jamaica. A job as a social worker will not pay you very much. Basic housing, food and general things to get by can be really expensive.

To be totally honest with you, I live here and it would be rather difficult for you, but , it's still possible if you are connected with the appropriate people to assist you. Our infrastructure here is very poor, and to be honest there is more corruption taking place than not..(that's why i said if you have the right connections you will do well).. We are also facing a very tough economic time now, as you may know..it's a "world economic crisis", and trust me it's getting harder for alot of persons here. Over the past 2-3 yrs we have faced a closure of three (3) major investment schemes and a few minor ones. Most of these schemes were being invested in by alot of the very persons you would want to assist, and they have lost alot of money. I could go on, but i would say just do a market research and analyse whether or not "at this time" it would be economically viable for you...

What could you do with a BS in Social Work and a minor in Psychology
What could you do with a BS in Social Work and a minor in Psychology?
So I'm still an undergraduate, but I was wondering what professions I would be able to get if I had a BS in Social Work and a minor in Psychology. I am planning on going to graduate school to get a Masters in Social Work. I heard that you could still become a clinical psychologist if you get a Masters in Social Work and have a minor is psych, is that true? Please help me, thanks :)

you could work for a wrap around service as a mobile therapist

You cannot be a clinical psychologist without a PhD or PsyD, but you can be a licensed professional counselor and do therapy. I went to U of Michigan at Ann Arbor and it was an excellent program. The field work was also good and was in Detroit. I also was able to do a few independent studies on topics that interested me. Meditator
